"People today say 'We must have bread to eat, first and foremost.' Certainly this is true. But if we do not start thinking about encountering the structures of the spiritual world so that our bread can also be made tomorrow, then we will find ourselves able to eat only what the Earth offers up — and tomorrow, and the next day, we will have no bread. The old systems of thought will provide us with bread for a little while yet. But the day after tomorrow — metaphorically speaking, of course — we will find ourselves with no bread if we do not derive our earthly institutions out of the directives of a new spirituality. Think about these things, for they are matters of great importance."
