"What a piece of work is a man!"
Rudolf Steiner: "The physical human body standing before us may not immediately betray the fact that it is the result of the work of divine beings in collaboration with the human being during his existence between death and a new birth. But older civilizations were aware of this when they called the body a 'temple of the gods.' As little as we realize this with our normal consciousness here on Earth, this human body is the most complex thing existing anywhere in the universe. A single human body is the confluence and the totality of the work of countless beings, of whom we too are one. We help to work on the body with which we clothe ourselves in an earthly incarnation. We would not be able to elaborate it individually for ourselves but have to create it in community with countless spiritual beings of the most diverse ranks."
