"I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!" — Luke 12:49-50
"This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." — John 15:12-13
Rudolf Steiner, "Verse for America"
Rudolf Steiner:
"We must consciously live with the spirit. If we are able to do this, then quite naturally we shall be able to live in the spirit with other human beings as well.... Unless we immerse our own soul in the soul of another person — and that is inherent in the art of living together as human beings — we cannot develop a life imbued with true spirituality.... Cultivating truth is our first task. Entering into the reality or experience of every living creature we encounter in nature is the second responsibility. We must become as interested in the characteristics and capacities of every other person to the same degree that we are interested in ourselves.... In our era the individual self must be linked to a common universal humanity; this is the only relevant reality for human beings.... We must experience who other human beings really are; and what they, too, experience with their fellow human beings. We can live within the experience of another human being only when we ourselves can sense what fills the other human being, when we ourselves can feel what another person is feeling within. That is true human community; that is being truly human in your own life and within the life of humanity."
