Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble




At my baptism in Oklahoma on Easter Sunday 1956 this song was sung — fervently, passionately, magnificently — by a woman who limped the long length of the church up next to the altar and proceeded to go full Mary Magdalene into my wide-open nine-year-old heart.

I remember she included the verse "Were you there when they whipped him up the hill?" before the verse "Were you there when they nailed him to the cross?"
