Full Faith and Confidence: Serenity, Joy, and Gratitude

Rudolf Steiner: "A sentence that we can so often hear people say today, which is abused in its applications as few others, is 'I am a Christian.' Esotericists should be clear that 'being a Christian' is a distant, distant ideal toward which they must constantly strive. To live as a Christian means, above all, to accept with serenity whatever destiny may bring us; to never complain about the work of the gods; to accept with joy whatever they may send. It means that the saying 'Look at the birds in the sky: they do not sow, they do not reap, they do not gather into barns, and yet they receive what they need' becomes second nature in us. Accept with gratitude what is given to us. Then we are living according to the verse. If we do not do this, then the verse becomes blasphemy in our mouth."
